When editorial photographer Jenny Jimenez was approached by rising indie folk band THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS to create album artwork and go-to band photo for use on the web, she came to me as her lighting director to bring her concepts to life. As lighting director, I submitted a gear list to meet the needs of the creative direction, guided the crew to help execute the vision, and communicated with the photographer to ensure satisfaction.

The art director for the toys category at Amazon.com approached me with a collection of inspiration photos for a concept she wanted me to shoot for her portfolio. I of course obliged and together we decided on a location and collaborated on the creative. Then I got to work contacting crew members, booking the talent through the agency, hiring production assistants and an on-set production manager, and prepping for every wrinkle that could arise throughout the day. With a 6am call time, child model, and a TFP crew, I knew it would be imperative to iron out every detail in advance to maximize production hours and team morale. It was a success. This editorial looks just as fun as it was to shoot and produce.

Often times I develop my own creative concepts I want to shoot and flex my production muscles to bring these visions to life. For this idea, it started with a lighting style, which lead to a color pallet, and gathering images for the mood board and finally, an ambitious shot list. At that point, I knew exactly who to reach out to as my crew and finally found the perfect model to be the face of this concept. This project is just one example of how I collaborate with other creatives, and then produce the hell out of it to bring it to life. And yes, there are always craft services!

This project was a series of 6 promotional web videos we produced at Bret Stern Productions for Dole Salads featuring celebrities Felicity Huffman and Clinton Kelly. I served as the liaison between the production company and the agency and reported to the executive producer. Here is an example from the web series.

As the production manager for this national commercial, I took a very hands on role by securing necessary gear and the location, hiring crew, working with the talent agency, preparing production documents, hosting the pre-pro meeting, overseeing the set build, and ensuring all aspects of the production ran smoothly during the shoot.

Post Production Manager/Marketing Manager
I joined this indie film project after principal photography had already wrapped and post production was underway. I developed a post production schedule to expedite the process and meet the deadlines of the festival circuit. Upon completion, I created a grassroots marketing campaign that offered sponsorship to amateur stock car drivers who were willing to cross promote the film. This garnered a large following on Facebook and confirmed the film's niche audience was eager for distribution. This, plus crafty press releases written by yours truly, caught the eye of the agents at Shoreline Entertainment and we locked in a deal for international distribution.
